2020 is destined to be an extraordinary year. The sudden outbreak of the new crown epidemic disrupted our normal study, life and work, and also caused a huge impact on the global economy. At the same time, “new infrastructure“In this year, it has been frequently swiped and has become a major “hot word” in China’s economy.

On April 20, the National Development and Reform Commission for the first time clarified the scope of new infrastructure, including information infrastructure, integration infrastructure, and innovation infrastructure. On May 22, the “new infrastructure” was officially written into the government work report. The “Report” proposes: “Strengthen the construction of new infrastructure, develop a new generation of information networks, expand 5G applications, build charging piles, promote new energy vehicles, stimulate new consumer demand, and help industrial upgrading.” “Infrastructure” mainly includes seven major areas: 5G infrastructure, UHV, intercity high-speed railway and urban rail transit, new energy vehicle charging piles, big data centers, artificial intelligence, and industrial Internet.

Recently, “Application of Electronic Technology” invited a number of semiconductor manufacturers with a wide range of representatives to review 2020 and look forward to 2021 on the topic of “new infrastructure”!

TE Connectivity Data and Terminal Equipment Division

Mr. Xu Suxiang, Head of Sales in China and Senior Manager of Technology Application in Asia Pacific

“From the new infrastructure to the 14th Five-Year Plan, we have noticed that the country is focusing on developing and building a new development pattern, forming a strong domestic market, and hoping that the supply chain will be local.” Xu Suxiang, head of China sales of TE Connectivity’s data and terminal equipment business unit and senior manager of technology applications in the Asia-Pacific region, said.

For industrial upgrading, TE Connectivity (TE) can use more advanced technology to meet some domestic needs.

First, TE can help customers build a new digital infrastructure platform. With this digital new infrastructure platform, all technologies can be developed on it.

Second, TE also hopes to further promote the integration of digital technology and the real economy.

Third, TE is also doing various digital upgrading and transformation practices in its own factories. TE is also continuing to invest and strive to deepen its digital layout to cover intelligent manufacturing and engineering research and development, so that it can respond to customer needs better, faster and more comprehensively.

Xu Suxiang said that the new infrastructure is undoubtedly centered on the construction of large-scale data centers and 5G infrastructure. In fact, it requires very fast iteration of technology., This iteration is not only due to the unique needs of a certain customer, but also updated and developed in the context of a large global standard iteration.

The development in the past 12 months has also benefited from the accelerated investment in 5G by the Chinese government, and the market demand has shown a blowout state. The demand for connection products in 5G infrastructure has increased by a multiple level compared with 4G, and the average demand is tripled.

“5G is a challenge and an opportunity.” Xu Suxiang thinks:

(1) Compared to 4G, 5G offers higher data transfer rates, lower latency, better mobility, more efficient spectral efficiency, and more compact connections. With the support of 5G, the three major use cases include enhanced mobile broadband, high-reliability and low-latency communication, and massive machine-type communication will become possible, which requires continuous innovation on the architecture side to support the higher performance of 5G.

(2) Second, 5G antennas will use multi-user massive MIMO technology to support multi-user wireless multiplexing, which will inevitably increase the complexity of 5G base stations.

(3) Then, as C-RAN continues to evolve, a large number of electronic components will be concentrated in the box of the active antenna system, generating a lot of heat. This puts forward higher requirements for heat dissipation technology.

(4) The 5G architecture will continue to evolve. In addition to high-speed solutions, for MIMO applications, TE Data and Terminal Equipment Division provides corresponding high-density RF connectors to support customers’ needs for miniaturization and high-density in new wireless systems. In the future, 64 channels and 128 channels will become the mainstream applications of 5G, and TE also has corresponding connectors to support it.
