(March 22, 2021) Companies can upgrade production plant networks for more demanding data-intensive networking needs with the new high-performance, all-gigabit Allen-Bradley Stratix 5800 managed industrial Ethernet switches. This series of switches supports Layer 2 access switching and Layer 3 routing and can be used in multi-tier architectures. It has strong security features and is ISA/IEC 62443-4-2 certified to help enhance network security.
Stratix 5800 switches are available in both fixed and modular designs, allowing users to flexibly configure according to application needs. It features a combination of electrical, optical, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports to support multiple architectures.
This family of switches meets the needs of both operations (OT) and IT teams, helping to simplify integration. It supports Studio 5000 user-defined profiles for source-level integration with the Rockwell Automation Integration Architecture. At the same time, it runs the Cisco IOS-XE operating system, which helps simplify integration with enterprise-class systems.
“Today, companies need to address challenges such as skills shortages and security threats while connecting their operations, so reducing the complexity of IT/OT convergence is a top priority,” said Mark Devonshire, product manager at Rockwell Automation. ” Stratix 5800 managed switches not only help simplify the work of IT and OT teams, but also help improve security and performance in industrial environments.”
This series of switches has been certified according to ISA/IEC 62443-4-2, which certifies that it meets the standard technical requirements of safety level 2 for industrial automation and control systems. This continues Rockwell Automation’s longstanding tradition of helping to secure industrial operations through certifications, expertise, products and services.
